Raising Heritage Pork the Way Nature Intended
At Tweed Hill Homestead, we’re proud to raise Idaho Pasture Pigs, a heritage breed line specially developed to thrive in outdoor grazing systems while delivering exceptional pork quality that your family will love.
Our Process
Unlike conventional hog farming, our pigs live outdoors year-round using rotational grazing practices. Every 2–5 days, we move the herd to fresh pasture using portable fencing. This allows them to:
- Root and explore naturally across diverse terrain
- Build their own nesting areas in the grass where they choose
- Enjoy sunlight exposure that enriches nutritional value
- Contribute to soil health through natural fertilization
They receive supplemental protein and energy feeds to meet their omnivorous nutritional needs, ensuring optimal growth and health throughout their lifecycle.
