Lard Soap Recipes

Soap making instructions can be found here.

Remember ingredients (except for additives when indicated in volume) need to be weighted and not measured. Fragrance and essential oils should also be weighed.

These recipes makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of soap.

Lard and Coconut

Ingredients

Fats, oils and butters

• 480 grams lard
• 120 grams coconut oil

Lye solution

• 85 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
• 228 grams distilled water

Scent (if you wish) can be added at trace

• 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

100% Lard Soap

* Please note that achieving trace with this recipe may take a while (might take 20 to 30 minutes). Do not get discouraged. It is best to switch between using the stick blender and blending with a with a whisk to prevent burning out your stick blender.

• 600 grams lard

Lye solution

• 80 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
• 228 grams distilled water

Scent (if you wish) can be added at trace

• 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

Lard and Olive Soap

Ingredients

Fats, oils and butters

• 300 grams lard
• 270 grams olive oil
• 30 grams castor oil

Lye solution

• 79 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
• 228 grams distilled water

Scent can be added at trace

• 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

Creamy Lard Soap

Ingredients

Fats, oils and butters

• 240 grams lard
• 120 grams palm kernel oil
• 120 grams wheat germ oil
•  60 grams cocoa butter
•  60 grams avocado oil

Lye solution

• 83 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
• 228 grams distilled water

Scent can be added at trace

• 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

Basic Lard Soap

Ingredients

• 390 grams lard
• 150 grams coconut oil
• 60 grams cocoa butter

Lye solution

• 86 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
• 228 grams distilled water

Scent can be added at trace

• 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).
